In December 2007, a MPFI consortium comprising Macquarie (lead sponsor and financial adviser), Pierse Group (design and build) and Serco (facilities management) was announced as the Preferred Tenderer for this prestigious project.
Released in May 2006 by the Commissioners of Public Works in Ireland, the Decentralisation PPP project involves the design, construction, financing and maintenance of three new government office buildings under the terms of a single contract for a 15 year concession period. Tender responses were submitted by five shortlisted consortia in September 2007.
Details of the three sites are as follows:
- Portlaoise is to accommodate 850 staff from the Department of Agriculture & Food
- Carlow is to accommodate 300 staff from the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment
- Mullingar is to accommodate 320 staff from the Department of Education & Science
Planning for the sites was submitted in April 2008, and the buildings are expected to be completed in 2010.
