DUET review of Draft Regulatory Decision on UED

22 June 2005

Diversified Utility and Energy Trusts (DUET) has conducted an initial review of the draft decision by the Essential Services Commission (ESC) on the 2006 Electricity Distribution Price Review (EDPR) lodged by United Energy Distribution Pty Ltd (UED).

The EDPR determines the pricing and service parameters for UED for the 2006-2010 period.

The draft decision is subject to further public review, including the opportunity for UED to respond to issues raised by the ESC and provide further information supporting UED’s position, prior to the final determination expected in September 2005.  UED’s formal response will be made public on submission to the ESC, expected by 18 August 2005.

DUET’s initial review indicates that the draft decision would not materially impact on the implementation of UED’s current business objectives or its ability to continue to pay distributions to DUET over the 2006-2010 regulatory period.

Further, based on DUET’s initial modelling of the draft decision, DUET maintains its expectation that the 2006 EDPR will not materially impact on the level of distributions to its unitholders.

UED’s media statement regarding the ESC’s draft regulatory decision is attached.
