Rob Bilger

Rob began his oil and gas career with Marathon Oil. He was Executive Vice President, CFO and Director of Samson Investment Company from 1999-2001 and held the same title with Ashland Exploration from 1987-1998. Rob was Director of Acquisitions for Apache Corporation from 1984-1987. He has directed the negotiations and closings of more than $20 billion of acquisitions and divestitures during his career.

Rob formed Petroleum Place Energy Advisors as its President in 2001, and became Managing Director, A&D with the merger with Tristone Capital, and head of the Houston office. Tristone Capital was merged with Macquarie in August 2009. He is a member of IPAA and its Business Development and CFO Roundtables, as well as being a member of TIPRO and Houston Producers’ Forum, and serves on the Board of Directors of IPAMS.

David Hopkins

David brings to Macquarie over 30 years of diversified experience in all phases of the oil and gas industry including reservoir engineering, exploration, drilling and production operations and strategic planning. He began his career as a Petroleum Engineer with Houston Oil and Minerals Corporation in 1976, and later held various technical and management positions with Tenneco Oil, Apache Corporation and EnerVest Management Co., where he was Division Manager and later Senior VP of Operations from 1996 to 2000. While at EnerVest, he managed all aspects of operations and led the successful assimilation of several key acquisitions. Before joining Tristone Capital, he served as VP of Acquisition Evaluations for Xpronet Resources, where he led the acquisition evaluation efforts for over $300 million of properties during 2001 and 2002.

Since joining Tristone Capital, now Macquarie, David has been a key member of the A&D advisory team, working in both transaction management and technical lead roles that have been instrumental in the closing of over $7 billion in transactions. During this time, he has been involved in over 30 engagements in many of the major U.S. basins, including the Gulf Coast, Permian, East Texas, Mid-Continent, California and Rocky Mountains.

David earned a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering with honors from The University of Texas at Austin and is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, Houston Producers' Forum and the Houston Chapter of API.

Tom Duncan

Tom Duncan

Tom started his career in the oil and gas industry with Texaco in 1981. He spent 12 of his 21 years with Texaco in the Denver and Midland producing areas as Project Geologist, Project Manager and Regional Manager of Exploration and Exploitation in the Permian Basin, the Rocky Mountains, the Appalachians and in the U.S. Mid-Continent area.  During the last 9 years with Texaco in New York and Houston, Tom was an International New Business and Exploration Area Manager for Southeast Asia and West Africa where he oversaw A&D, exploration and operations in Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Angola and Nigeria. In addition to his career at Texaco, Tom spent two years as Project Director, Western U.S. for Quicksilver Resources, coordinating operations in Texas, Colorado and Canada.  He has 5 years of experience as Transaction Manager at Macquarie.

Tom obtained his MBA from Colorado State University in 1992, and earned a B.S. in Geology from Sul Ross State University in 1980.  Prior to completing college, he spent 8 years as an operator and instructor in the U.S. Navy Nuclear Power program.

Jerry Gips

Jerry has over 38 years of experience in the oil and gas industry including employment at Texaco and Bartling Oil Company. In 2000 he joined the predecessor companies of Tristone Capital after working 18 years as a consulting geologist. His emphasis has been on play and prospect generation, as well as, reserve delineation by careful mapping of producing fields in mature producing regions, both domestic and foreign, onshore and offshore. Jerry has been responsible for operations, the planning and expenditure of company budgets, and presentations to financial interests. He is knowledgeable of SMT’s 2D/3D Pak software, Landmark’s Seisworks and Geographix packages, and Petra software. Since 1997 Jerry has worked on numerous A&D projects involving the evaluation, reserve determination and data room presentation of numerous properties.

Jerry received a B.S. in Geology from the University of Texas at Austin in 1970. He is a member of AAPG and HGS.

David Vetters

Mr. Vetters joined Macquarie on September 1, 2009 as part of Macquarie’s acquisition of Tristone where was a Managing Director in Investment Banking since July 2005. Prior thereto, he spent nine years at BMO Nesbitt Burns Inc and National Bank Financial Inc. His experience has been focused on the energy sector and includes transactions for oil and gas producers and royalty trusts, oil and gas service companies, electric and pipeline utilities, and mining companies. David’s transactional experience includes leading numerous equity and debt financings, merger, acquisition and divestiture assignments as well as reorganizations and several restructuring assignments. Since joining Macquarie (Tristone), he has advised on over $15 billion of merger, acquisition, and divestiture assignments, and over $8 billion of equity financings.

Prior to BMO Nesbitt Burns Inc., David spent three years with Price Waterhouse with work focused on audit and consulting assignments for oil and gas producers and various non-oil and gas clients.

David is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

Dan Gatto

Mr. Gatto joined Macquarie Tristone on September 1, 2009 as part of Macquarie’s acquisition of Tristone, where he was a founder and Vice President and Director of A&D. His transaction experience includes both conventional and unconventional oil and gas asset as well as corporate divestitures in Western Canada.  His experience has also included collaboration with Investment Banking in raising equity and the Capital Markets Research Group, focused on the Oil and Gas sector.

Previous to Tristone Dan spent 20 years in various roles including geologist, Vice President of Exploration and Business Development with several Canadian E&P companies and as an independent consultant.  
In addition to the diverse Western Canadian experience Dan also has project experience in Latin America, Southern Europe, North Africa and the Canadian Arctic. 

Mr. Gatto holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from the University of Calgary and is a Registered Professional Geologist.

Louie Marchesin

Mr. Marchesin joined Macquarie Tristone in September 2009, following the merger with Tristone Capital. With over 25 years of upstream oil and gas experience in Western Canada, Mr. Marchesin has held technical, consulting and management positions with intermediate to major producers. His diverse engineering experience and knowledge covers the areas of production engineering, operations, completions, exploitation, development, evaluations, and acquisitions and divestitures.

Mr. Marchesin holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Alberta is a registered professional engineer, a member of the CIM and is involved with the Calgary-Chinook Scout Foundation.

Jeffrey Auld

Jeffrey has 20 years experience in the energy sector. Prior to joining Macquarie in 2010, he was European Head of Energy for Canaccord Adams in London, responsible for EMEA ECM and M&A activities. He has been on both the corporate and investment banking side of the industry, working for Premier Oil, Goldman Sachs, and PetroKazakhstan. Jeffrey has advised on a number of high profile transactions, including the sale of First Calgary Petroleum to Eni for C$983m and advising Heritage Oil on the proposed acquisition of Genel Energy.

Andrew Jones
Andrew has over 19 years experience in the energy sector. Prior to joining Macquarie in 2010, he spent 9 years at Shell leading upstream asset transactions both internationally and in the North Sea. Andrew has also worked for National Power plc supporting gas supply arrangements for international power projects and Conoco leading North Sea A&D projects and negotiating operational service contracts. He has extensive transaction history, having dealt with counter-parties all over the world, including BG, ExxonMobil, GdF, OMV, Maersk Oil, ONGC, and Woodside.

Max Thenard
Max has four years experience in corporate finance advisory having joined Macquarie in 2007. During his time at Macquarie, Max has been involved in numerous assignments in the oil & gas sector.
