How do I apply for a graduate or internship position?

Please look at your Career Services site to see if we will be on your campus for interviews and presentations. If so, please apply directly there as well as to the link on the right. For all other schools, click on the apply now link on the right. Here you’ll be asked to complete the online application form and attach a cover letter, up-to-date resumé and academic transcripts.

What is the selection process for campus recruitment?

The selection process for each Macquarie business group varies slightly, however the following is a typical campus recruitment process:

  • applications are received and assessed by the Macquarie Recruitment team via the online application form
  • first round interviews are typically conducted by a member of the recruitment team along with a representative of the business group
  • assessment
  • second round interviews are conducted by business managers
  • background checking (reference checks and pre-employment screening)
  • offer.

How many analyst, associate and summer internship positions are available and in which business groups are these positions available?

The specific number of roles available varies across each of our business groups and are subject to change based on shifting business and market requirements and the quality of the applications received.

What tasks does a typical analyst, associate or summer intern do?

Analysts, associates and summer interns are quickly integrated into the business and given real responsibility from day one. Most find this challenge to be one of the most enjoyable aspects of their role at Macquarie. I am completing a ______ degree; can you please tell me the best majors to undertake?

There aren’t any specific majors that will guarantee employment with Macquarie. We recommend you choose a major that you have a genuine interest in and that will provide you with some basic technical skills such as financial modeling, investment theory and accounting, and writing and research skills. If you are focused on a career in finance you will need to demonstrate initiative, strong numerical and analytical skills, an understanding of financial markets and a client service approach.

Can I submit my application directly with a recruiter?

Applications must be received via the online application tool by the specified closing dates, and where we have an on campus presence, through your University’s Career Services site. Please check your Career Services site to see if Macquarie will be on your campus. Applications submitted by any other means will not be considered.

Do analysts, associates and summer interns transfer between groups?

When recruiting analysts and associates, groups and divisions expect a minimum two-year commitment. This is to ensure that you are able to appropriately develop your skills and gain a strong understanding of the business into which you are recruited. Opportunities to transfer between businesses and groups are available further in your career.

If I secured an analyst, associate or summer intern position, when would I have to start?

New analysts and associates generally commence in August of each year. We do, however, take on students at varying times throughout the year and where necessary, this is determined on a case by case basis.

New interns will generally commence in June of each year for a 10-week non-rotational summer internship program.
