The Macquarie Global Infrastructure Funds are a series of subsequent 10-year closed ended Australian based wholesale funds that have invested in global infrastructure and infrastructure-like businesses.
Macquarie Global Infrastructure Fund (GIF), the first series of funds and launched in 2000, raised AUD 264 million and invested in 8 infrastructure and infrastructure like businesses. GIF is currently in the process of being wound up. They are one of the few global unlisted infrastructure funds to have already realised its various underlying fund investments, achieving a 23.1%* IRR for its investors.
Macquarie Global Infrastructure Fund II (GIF II) was launched in December 2004, raised AUD 497 million and invested in 9 infrastructure and infrastructure like businesses. GIF II has already divested 2 of its investments, generating realised returns well in excess of the fund’s target returns. The remaining 7 assets comprise investments in utilities, ports, renewable energy and aged care.
Macquarie Global Infrastructure Fund III (GIF III) was launched in December 2006, raised AUD 365 million and invested in 4 infrastructure and infrastructure like businesses, comprising investments in oil storage, airports, wireless communications and aged care.
The Macquarie Global Infrastructure Funds are managed by Macquarie Specialised Asset Management Limited and Macquarie Specialised Asset Management 2 Limited, 100% subsidiaries of Macquarie Group Limited. The management team are based in Sydney, Australia.
