Foundation Board

 

The Macquarie Group Foundation Board consists of senior executives who bring specific areas of expertise and experience to the Board. The Macquarie Group Foundation Board meets quarterly to assess funding applications, review the Foundation's activities and to set and monitor strategy.

Foundation management


Lisa George, Head, Macquarie Group Foundation
Lisa joined the Macquarie Group Foundation in 2010 as the Australian Partnerships Director before being appointed Foundation Head in 2012. She has worked in a range of not-for-profit roles, including with Social Ventures Australia and Be the Change (USA), and is a director of YWCA NSW and a councillor of the Harvard Club of Australia. She has a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government.

David Bennett David Bennett
David is an Executive Director and has been appointed to the role of Group Treasurer (effective October 2012). David joined Macquarie in 1999 following the acquisition of Bankers Trust. He has a BCom (UNSW) and has many years experience in investment advisory.
Tanya Branwhite
Tanya is joint head of Macquarie Securities' Australian equity strategy research team and is an Executive Director. She joined Macquarie in 2004 having held roles in both broking and funds management in the Australian market over many years. She holds a Master of Finance (UTS) and a second Masters of Finance degree from INSEAD (France). Tanya has demonstrated strong support for not-for-profit organisations, in both a professional and personal capacity, during her employment with Macquarie.
David Fass David Fass
David joined Macquarie in 2011 as CEO for Europe, Middle East and Africa. He has spent many years in a variety of senior managment and client facing roles in both London and New York, including in corporate finance and debt and equity markets. David is also active in several philanthropic endeavours.
Alex Harvey Alex Harvey
Alex is the CEO of Macquarie in Asia. He joined Macquarie in 1999 and has considerable experience in the financial services industry having led equity, debt and advisory transactions in Australia, Asia, Europe and the United States. Alex supports a range of charitable organisations, both personally and professionally.
James Hodgkinson James Hodgkinson
James is a former Executive Director of Macquarie. He has a Bachelor of Economics, is a CPA and is a Fellow of the Australian Property Institute. James has significant experience in property funds management, investment advisory and chartered accounting. In addition, he is a Governor of the Cerebral Palsy Foundation. James is the Alumni member of the Board.
Michael McLaughlin
Michael has a BS from Villanova University and an MBA from Pennsylvania State University. He is head of Macquarie's Credit Trading Division and an Executive Director based in New York. He is responsible for managing Macquarie's sales and trading activity in corporate debt, securitised debt, and credit derivative markets. Prior to joining Macquarie in 2008, Michael worked for over 14 years at Banc of America Securities, including leading the structured credit products business and the European asset securitisation business.
Kris Neill Kris Neill
Kris is an Executive Director of Macquarie with a senior role in the Corporate Communications and Investor Relations Division. A former journalist and senior political adviser, Kris has many years of media and issues management experience. Kris has responsibility for Macquarie's issues management and internal communications strategies in Australia and internationally.
Richard Sheppard Richard Sheppard
Richard is the Chairman of the Foundation Board. Prior to his retirement from Macquarie Group in 2011, Richard served as Managing Director and CEO of Macquarie Bank and Deputy Managing Director of Macquarie Group. During his time at Macquarie, Richard played particularly important roles in the growth of the retail businesses within Banking and Financial Services, the funds management activities within Macquarie Funds Group and the leasing activities within Corporate and Asset Finance. Richard also led the Group’s restructure in 2007. He has also held a number of not-for-profit board roles.
Nigel Smyth Nigel Smyth
Nigel is an Executive Director of Macquarie and holds the position of Chief Information Officer. He has worked in the banking and IT consulting industries for many years and has a strong commitment to capacity building within the not-for-profit sector. Through his leadership and encouragment, IT staff at Macquarie contribute hundreds of pro bono hours to the sector.
Greg Ward Greg Ward
Greg joined Macquarie in 1996 and is now the Macquarie Bank Limited Managing Director and CEO and Macquarie Group Deputy MD. Greg is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and holds a Master of Economics and is an Associate of the Securities Institute of Australia. He has significant experience in finance and financial services.
Sheryl Weil Sheryl Weil
Sheryl Weil is Head of Service and Operations for Macquarie Adviser Services. With considerable experience in financial services and a national team, Sheryl is kept aware of the philanthropic priorities of Macquarie staff at many levels in the community. Sheryl oversees the management of the client service provision in Macquarie's Banking and Financial Services Group and her program of continuous client service improvements in those operations has introduced a level of excellence and changed the way that an entire division does business.
