Macquarie Electronics records over $100 million in Qimonda Dresden Equipment Sales

09 July 2010

  • Leading international semiconductor equipment remarketer has sold over 425 tools despite market downturn
  • 270 main front-end tools still remain to be sold.

SAN DIEGO, July 9, 2010 — Macquarie Electronics today announced that it has successfully sold over $100 million in used equipment from Qimonda’s wafer fabrication facility in Dresden, Germany. Qimonda’s Insolvency Administrator, Dr. Michael Jaffé, appointed Macquarie Electronics to market select state-of-the-art 300mm semiconductor assets from its site after the memory maker filed bankruptcy in 2009.

Macquarie Electronics is a global leader in remarketing semiconductor equipment and has drawn upon its international marketing and operations expertise to secure offers for the assets despite a challenging selling environment. The semiconductor industry did not escape the impact of the global financial crisis as it suffered one of the most severe downturns in its history.

Although Macquarie has sold over 425 tools from the Dresden site, over 40 percent of the front-end assets still remain awaiting buyers. Available equipment models include ASML AT:1250D, Applied Materials Producer, LAM 2300, TEL Telius, and more. Macquarie will continue to market the production assets only and is currently scheduling onsite inspections for potential buyers. Interested parties can request equipment configuration and maintenance data by contacting Macquarie Electronics directly.
