Daegu 4th Beltway East is a 7.25km, dual three-lane toll expressway currently the only operational section of Daegu City's proposed circulation road and it forms the eastern sections of the ring road. Construction of Daegu 4th Beltway East began in August 1997 and was completed in August, 2002. Tolling operations commenced in September 2002.

nature of the investment

On 14 March 2006, MKIF committed KRW 89.5 billion to the Daegu 4 th Beltway East project. MKIF's equity investment was made indirectly through acquiring 85% of shares in Korea Road Infrastructure Investment Company (KRIIC), which owns 100% of Daegu East Circulation Road Co., Ltd.(DECRC), the project concessionaire. In addition, MKIF acquired 85% of the subordinated loan facility provided directly to DECRC. MKIF's total investment size is KRW 89.5 billion, consisting of KRW 57.5 billion of equity and KRW 32.0 billion of subordinated loans.
