Macquarie Capital Advisers provides advisory and capital raising services to corporate and government clients involved in public mergers and acquisitions (M&A), private treaty acquisitions and divestments, debt and equity fund raising and corporate restructuring. Macquarie Capital Advisers advised on 299 transactions valued at $A203 billion for the year to 31 March 2009. Macquarie Capital Funds acquires and manages infrastructure and other specialised assets on behalf of external investors through 35 listed and unlisted vehicles around the world. Funds staff work closely with the management teams of each asset and business to optimise business planning and strategy, capital structure, performance and risk management. The Funds portfolio comprises more than 118 businesses in 26 countries and includes toll roads, airports, ports, water utilities, communications, infrastructure, social infrastructure, electricity and gas distribution networks. Graduates will also be provided with information about Macquarie’s culture, goals and values, our history, our management and organisation and will have opportunities to network at various social functions. Once you commence working in your team you will be assigned a buddy and a mentor. Your buddy will assist you on a day-to-day basis and your mentor will help guide you through your initial transition from university to the corporate world. What might I be doing on an Internship within Macquarie Capital?Macquarie Capital’s Summer Internship Program runs for 8-10 weeks and exposes you to a dynamic working environment with the opportunity to be involved in, and contribute to, high-profile transactions whilst working with the best people in the industry. As an intern, you will spend the majority of the program “on the job” however, you will also be provided with training and development opportunities during the internship period. Macquarie Capital’s internship induction program includes Bloomberg, other database training, and presentations to help you gain a better understanding of Macquarie and the business. You will also be given the opportunity to present a pitch to a board of senior Macquarie Directors at the end of the internship. In addition to providing you with technical skills and experience, the Macquarie Capital Summer Internship Program provides you with opportunities to develop your interpersonal skills through networking with other interns and with current employees. This is a great chance to get a foot in the door at a leading investment and advisory firm and gain some valuable work experience.
