Corporate Affairs Group

The Corporate Affairs Group (CAG) provides essential and professional services across all areas of Macquarie. The Group sets and maintains high standards and is continually developing operational efficiencies and setting industry benchmarks in service delivery. The primary aim of CAG is to provide a seamless multi-disciplinary support infrastructure tailored to business requirements, while maintaining appropriate levels of risk management, compliance and corporate governance. The Group supports Macquarie’s operating areas by:

  • Providing professional management of workplace and client environments
  • Partnering with Macquarie businesses to deliver business improvement support, human resource management and taxation services
  • Administering the Macquarie Group companies
  • Supporting a broad range of financial markets trading activities.

CAG comprises eight Divisions including Finance, Taxation, Group Treasury, Business Services, Company Secretarial & Investor Relations, Human Resources, Settlements and Business Improvement & Strategy.

  • Finance plays a key role in supporting Macquarie’s operating areas by providing financial control, financial planning and capital management, management reporting and budgeting, divisional accounting services and international business support
  • Taxation provides taxation support to all areas of Macquarie, manages compliance with taxation legislation and relationships with revenue authorities globally
  • Group Treasury is responsible for the balance sheet, liquidity and interest rate management of the bank. Funds are raised both domestically and offshore and are primarily on-lend to the asset creating divisions of the bank to allow funding of their business activities
  • Business Services provides Macquarie with a range of business support functions including workspace and lease management, business continuity and security, guest relations, procurement and business information services
  • Company Secretarial and Investor Relations has responsibility for compliance with certain ASX and Australian Securities and Investments Commission requirements, Macquarie’s share registry, employee equity schemes, professional risk insurances and corporate governance matters
  • Human Resources supports business strategy by seeking to attract, recruit, reward and retain the best employees. To do this, Human Resources works closely with Macquarie’s business and support areas, providing operational and consulting services globally
  • Business Improvement & Strategy provides consulting services to all business and support areas. Services include advice on growth, strategy, organization design, new product development, process re-engineering and management of change
  • Settlements provides timely and accurate confirmation and settlement facilities for a variety of products and currencies for many of Macquarie’s businesses, while maintaining appropriate operational risk standards.
