Joined Macquarie: 2009

At the start, the reason I joined Macquarie was because of the challenge presented to me, which was to build and establish a global support team.  Eventually, I was able to experience first hand the commitment, trust and support that it gives to its employees which is what I was looking for in a company.

I joined Macquarie April of 2009 as an Operations Manager handling Service Desk, Security Operation and System Operations teams.  Within a year, I was able to grow the teams from 21 to 48 staff providing global 24x7 support for Macquarie across all regions.  I was also given an opportunity to visit offices in Sydney, Hong Kong, New York and London to market and share the successful transformation of the Service Desk from regional support to global support.

I have learnt that for you to be successful in Macquarie, collaboration is essential.  The culture allows you to synergise with anyone within the company which empowers you, be it as an individual contributor or a lead.  It pushes you to go beyond your normal limits and to maximize your capabilities.  Our principle of Freedom within Boundaries enabled me to take advantage of open opportunities to innovate and be creative.
