There aren’t any specific majors that will guarantee employment with Macquarie. We recommend you choose a major that you have a genuine interest in and that will provide you with some basic technical skills such as financial modelling, investment theory and accounting, writing and research skills. If you are focused on a career in finance you will need to demonstrate initiative, strong numerical and analytical skills, an understanding of financial markets and a client service approach.
The information in the Our businesses section will help you work out where you fit best.
Does Macquarie target MBA students?
MBA recruitment is an important component of our broader recruitment strategy and is managed separately to our Graduate Program. MBA candidates should lodge an application for alternative positions via the web.
Can I lodge my application directly with a recruiter?
Applications must be received via the online application tool. Applications received after these closing dates or by any other means will not be considered.
Do graduates transfer between Groups?
When recruiting graduates, Groups and Divisions expect a minimum two-year commitment. This is to ensure that you are able to appropriately develop your skills and gain a strong understanding of the business into which you are recruited. Opportunities to transfer between businesses and Groups are available further in your career.
If I secured a graduate position, when would I have to start?
New graduates typically commence in February and August of each year. We do, however, take on students at varying times throughout the year and where necessary, this is determined on a case by case basis.
