Application Guidelines

The Macquarie Group Foundation is one of Australia’s oldest and largest corporate foundations contributing more than $A17.3 million last financial year to more than 800 community organisations. In addition Macquarie staff raised more than $A5.7 million taking Macquarie’s total community contribution to more than $A23 million. Supporting the philanthropic endeavours of Macquarie staff and businesses is one of the most important commitments that the Foundation makes. All staff are actively encouraged to become involved in the community through giving, not only financially but also their time and professional expertise.

The Macquarie Group Foundation focuses its resources in five core areas – arts, education, the environment, health and welfare. We are also committed to projects specifically aimed at supporting Indigenous communities.

What do we look for?

The Foundation considers applications from community organisations that are working in innovative ways to provide long-term benefits. Funding levels are flexible and are dictated by the needs of the organisation and funding availability. Each application is assessed on its individual merit, with priority given to programs which:

  • Support a broad community need in the areas of arts, education, the environment, health and welfare
  • Have the involvement of Macquarie staff through volunteering, fundraising, pro bono work and board/ management committee involvement
  • Are located in communities where Macquarie operates
  • Deliver long-term benefits and build community sustainability
