CF Macquarie Global Infrastructure Securities Fund

The Fund offers UK investors an opportunity to access a diversified portfolio of typically 40 to 50 infrastructure securities and aims to provide a total return consisting of income and capital growth.

Macquarie believes that superior performance comes from a systematic, bottom-up approach to identifying long-term value in infrastructure companies.  Our disciplined investment process seeks to generate results by selecting companies that demonstrate sustainable and predictable income, defined revenues that may be regulated and inflation-linked, and a strategic competitive advantage or significant barrier to entry.

What is infrastructure?

Infrastructure can be defined as companies, facilities and networks that provide essential services to the community such as water, roads, airports and energy distribution.

Infrastructure extends across a number of distinct sectors ranging from social infrastructure (such as schools and hospitals) through to commercially competitive infrastructure (such as telecommunications).

Why invest in infrastructure securities?

Increasingly, investors are recognising that infrastructure assets typically exhibit desirable investment characteristics including:

  • basic, irreplaceable and essential services with inelastic demand profile
  • near monopolistic assets with high barriers to entry providing predictable income and growth
  • long-term growth correlated with GDP and revenue correlated with inflation in some instances.

Fund’s investment objective

The Fund aims to provide investors with a total return over the medium-to-long term consisting of income and capital growth. Note that the actual return may differ materially.

Fund suitability

The Fund may be suitable for investors seeking to:

  • produce long-term income combined with growth potential
  • further diversify an existing portfolio comprised of equity and bond assets
  • generate potential inflation-linked returns from a securitised portfolio of real assets.

Macquarie's investment team

The Fund is managed by Justin Lannen, who has 10 years of investment experience, including seven years in the infrastructure and utilities sectors.
