Andrew Hunter
Andrew Hunter is the Head of Macquarie Group’s European business and Head of Macquarie Capital in Europe. In this role Andrew oversees more than 1,000 people working within Macquarie’s European operations in London, Paris, Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich, Geneva, Vienna, Amsterdam, Manchester, Dublin, Rome and Milan.
Andrew has almost 20 years’ advisory and asset management experience in Australia, Asia and Europe. Andrew was previously Head of Macquarie’s European advisory business, where more than 450 executives advise on transactions and manage assets in sectors including airports, roads, rail, utilities, telecommunications, industrials, property, PFI/PPP, media, entertainment and technology. Under his leadership, the European team carried out landmark transactions including significant investment in of Thames Water, the UK’s largest water company, Brussels Airport and French motorway Autoroutes Paris -Rhine-Rhône.
Andrew joined Macquarie in August 1999 when Macquarie acquired the investment banking businesses of Bankers Trust Australia, where he had worked for almost 10 years in roles in credit analysis, finance and securitisation in Australia and Hong Kong.
Arthur Rakowski
Arthur heads Macquarie’s Private Placement Group in Europe and the Middle East and is responsible for institutional relationships in the region. He was a driving force behind the creation of MEIF1, MEIF2 and MEIF 3, which raised €7.3 billion in total investor commitments. In 2002, Arthur was also involved in the raising of €600 million for a specialist airport investment fund, the Macquarie Airports Group.
During his 16 year career at Macquarie, Arthur has been involved in a wide range of projects in Australia, the US and Europe, including advising European corporate and government clients in relation to cross-border leasing transactions for infrastructure assets, sourcing US equity for cross -border financing structures, fundraising for a direct equity fund in Australia and the US, and identifying and executing specific investments. Arthur is a member of the MEIF Investment Committee, which, since 2004, has made 25 investments in infrastructure in Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, France, Germany and the UK totalling more that €6 billion of equity. Arthur sits on the board of DCT Gdansk, a greenfield container terminal in Poland, also managed by Macquarie.
From 2000 to 2002, Arthur was based in Frankfurt, with responsibility for establishing Macquarie’s infrastructure finance business in Germany. Arthur joined Macquarie in 1992, after spending 6 years with KPMG in Sydney as Manager, National Office.
Martin Stanley
Wayne Leamon
Since joining Macquarie in 1993 Wayne has held a number of senior positions encompassing CEO and COO roles, M&A, integration and management of acquired companies, board membership, fund raising and large scale project management.
Wayne is CEO of Macquarie’s UK banking activities which includes FICC, securities trading and derivatives, lending, funds management and leasing activities. Additionally as COO he has operational oversight responsibility for all activities undertaken in Europe. He is a Board member of all Macquarie’s key regulated UK entities.
Prior to his current role he worked in Macquarie Capital Funds where he led the London Private Equity team which is responsible for the acquisition and management of businesses owned by Macquarie and other third party investors. In this role Wayne was Macquarie’s senior Board member on investee companies.
Prior to transferring to London he held senior positions in a number of key areas of Macquarie including the Risk Management Group.
Robert Tallentire
Rob is Chief Financial Officer and Head of Corporate Affairs, EMEA, for Macquarie Group. He is responsible for a team of 172 regionally-based Corporate Affairs Group staff across the areas of Finance, Tax, Human Resources, Company Secretarial, Business Services, Business Improvement and Settlements.
Rob holds a number of regional directorships for Macquarie Group companies along with other Financial Services Authority (FSA) authorised positions for Macquarie. Rob is also a member of Macquarie’s Global Integrity Office, an internal function that is part of the Group’s corporate governance framework and aims to support and ensure ethical conduct among Macquarie staff.
Rob joined Macquarie in June 1996, following three years working for The Natwest Group in the UK.
