Corporate advisory services
Macquarie Capital Advisers provides advisory services and debt and equity underwriting to corporate and government clients.
Advisory services include project financing, private finance initiatives (PFI), public private partnerships (PPP), takeovers, mergers & acquisitions, corporate restructuring and other corporate strategic and financial advice. Macquarie now has the largest dedicated private sector PFI team in the UK.
We focus on the infrastructure (toll roads, rail, airports, utilities, telecommunications), industrials and natural resources sectors, leveraging our key areas of expertise.

- Financial adviser to the Eiffage-led consortium, including the Macquarie Infrastructure Group and the Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund, on the acquisition of a majority stake in the French motorway group, Autoroutes Paris-Rhin-Rhône (APRR)
- Adviser to the Macquarie Infrastructure Group on its exit from Cintra Concesiones de Infraestructuras de Transporte SA, through an asset swap and IPO of shares. Co-lead manager in the €1.5bn IPO of Cintra Concesiones de Infraestructuras de Transporte SA on the Spanish stock exchanges.

- Financial adviser to Macquarie Bank Limited on the acquisition and debt refinancing of Arlanda Express, the high speed rail service connecting central Stockholm and Arlanda airport
- Financial adviser to Tubelines, purchaser of the infrastructure management company for the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines on the London Underground network. Initial funding includes a €3.2b package of commercial bank, EIB and mezzanine finance.

- Financial adviser and debt arranger in relation to Macquarie Airports' public market acquisition of a 53.4% stake in Copenhagen Airport A/S (CPH). The offer was unanimously recommended by the Board of CPH
- Financial adviser and co-sponsor of the consortium led by Macquarie Airports (MAp) in the €735m acquisition of 70% of Brussels International Aiport Corporation. Also debt and refinancing arranger and joint underwriter for the subsequent offer of MAp hybrid securities.

| Private Finance Initiative (PFI) |
- Financial adviser on the Peterborough Hospitals PPP project, which involved raising £444m for the construction and operation of an acute hospital, integrated care centre and mental health unit in Peterborough, totalling 648 beds. Macquarie provided 70 per cent of the equity, marking its first principal PPP transaction in Europe. Multiplex provided the balance of the equity as well as undertaking the construction and maintenance contract. The project featured a number of innovations for UK PFI, including the first ever zero tail bond, bond financed medical equipment solution and AAA wrapped RPI accretion swap
- Financial adviser to John Laing and Sodexho Investments in relation to the £361m project finance fundraising for the North Staffs Hospital project. The project entails the building of a new acute hospital on the University of North Staffordshire’s City General site and a new community hospital for North Stoke Primary Care Trust on the Haywood Sites.

Macquarie Capital Products is a global business with activities in London, Frankfurt, Vienna and Zurich. The business is broad-based and includes "big-ticket" leasing, tax efficient financing, alternative assets and retail distribution of various Macquarie investment opportunities throughout Europe. In addition, the team provides structuring, accounting and tax skills to support Macquarie's corporate advisory and infrastructure transactions across Europe.
