Corporate advisory services

Macquarie Capital Advisers is made up of six industry groups with specialist knowledge of the infrastructure and utilities, industrials, financial institutions, resources, real estate, and telecommunications, media, entertainment and technology sectors.

Macquarie Capital Advisers provides M&A, ECM, restructuring and debt structuring advice, project finance, Public Private Partnerships (PPPs), debt and equity underwriting, takeovers and advisory services to corporate and government clients.

Transport and Infrastructure Services
  • Joint financial adviser to Grupo Ferrovial on its £10.11bn takeover of BAA plc. Lead financial adviser on subsequent refinancing.
  • Financial adviser and debt arranger for the DKK 7620m public market acquisition of Copenhagen Airports by Macquarie Airports.
  • Financial adviser to Eiffage/ Macquarie consortium's acquisition of a majority stake in Autoroutes Paris Rhin-Rhone.
Infrastructure Development
  • Financial adviser and equity sponsor on Peterborough Hospitals, a £500m UK project.
  • Financial adviser and equity sponsor of the Macquarie Partnerships for Ireland consortium which was announced as Preferred Tenderer on the €115m Irish Schools Bundle 2 project. Macquarie also advised on the successful bid for the €80m Irish Schools Bundle 1 project.
  • Financial adviser to John Laing Infrastructure Ltd, Johann BUNTE Bauunternehmung und Bilfinger Berger BOT on financing the €650m development of the A1 Toll Road, the third A-Programme toll road in Germany.
Utilities
  • Financial adviser on Wales & West Utilities inaugural £250m bond issuance.
  • Financial adviser, equity and debt arranger to the Greensands consortium of JP Morgan, Challenger, UBS, Access Capital Partners and Hermes in the £4.2bn acquisition of Southern Water.
  • Financial adviser, equity underwriter and debt and equity arranger on the £8bn acquisition of Thames Water by a Macquarie-led consortium.
Telecommunications, Media, Entertainment and Technology
  • Financial adviser to Singapore Technologies Telemedia's agreed offer for Eircom, the incumbent telecom company in Ireland. The offer values Eircom at around €4bn.
  • Financial adviser, debt and equity arranger for the £2.5bn acquisition of National Grid Wireless by Arqiva.
  • Financial adviser and debt arranger for the £1.9bn acquisition of Airwave by Macquarie Funds.
Industrials
  • Financial adviser to a combined bid by EQT and a Macquarie-led consortium to acquire the travel concessions of Select Service Partners (SSP). 
  • Financial adviser in the exclusive £95m deal in which Hastie Group Limited acquired Rotary Limited, a leading business services company with operations in the UK, Republic of Ireland and the Middle East.
  • Financial adviser to the Macquarie-led consortium on the acquisition of Dyno-Nobel for US$1.7bn and the subsequent restructure resulting in listing of the Australian and North American operations and acquisition of the other operations by Orica.
Natural Resources
  • Joint global coordinator and joint underwriter for the US$15.2bn rights issue for Rio Tinto.
  • Joint financial adviser to Xstrata plc on its US$10bn proposed offer for Lonmin plc.
  • Joint financial adviser to Rio Tinto on its response to the US$140bn unsolicited takeover offer from BHP Billiton.
Real Estate
  • Financial adviser to Goodman Group's £649m acquisition of Akeler Holdings.
  • Financial adviser and lead manager for the €624m unlisted equity raising of Goodman European Logistics Fund.
  • Financial adviser to GPT Group's €75m acquisition of Halverton Real Estate Management.

Macquarie Capital Products is a global business with activities in London, Frankfurt, Vienna and Zurich. The business is broad-based and includes "big-ticket" leasing, tax efficient financing, alternative assets and retail distribution of various Macquarie investment opportunities throughout Europe. In addition, the team provides structuring, accounting and tax skills to support Macquarie's corporate advisory and infrastructure transactions across Europe.
